Athletic Field Blessing & Ribbon Cutting

"Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit." -John 12:24

Everest president, Mr. Nalepa, cited this verse from John's Gospel when he welcomed Mountaineer families and friends to the athletic field ribbon cutting and blessing on Saturday, September 7. It is through the generous support and sacrifice of many over Everest's 33 years and, most recently, the Phyle families and Milosch family that the Mountaineer athletic field was completely redone. The new stadium area features a releveled and seeded field, fencing, a pavilion picnic area, expanded seating, accessibility, and an improved press box. The Christ the King shrine which overlooks the field will be dedicated with Everest's entire student body present on Friday, September 13, as a part of this year's Founders' Day festivities.

The newly-renovated Phyle Field opened with EC football defeating defending state champions, Ubly, 21-14. The ribbon cutting and blessing ceremony took place before the game. EC soccer will host Shrine for its first game on the new field on Tuesday at 7 P.M. Go, Mountaineers!
