Beginning Lent

March 2, 2022

“It was our pain that He bore, our sufferings He endured… By His wounds we were healed.” -Isaiah 53:4-5

Ash Wednesday begins the liturgical season of Lent. This is a special time of year which the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops reminds the faithful, “is a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday... It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer;… we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting.” Everest students will participate in many activities over the coming 40 days to live this season.
