Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program

“When asked, many students will say their favorite classroom to visit is the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium. This special room brings our faith alive to the level of the child and allows our students to encounter God in their own personal way. My personal favorite lessons in Level I include the infancy narratives where the children are able to experience Jesus as a child and are able to share in his human likeness. With generous support from the Koch Foundation, Everest Collegiate High School & Academy was able to obtain funding to build Level One materials for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. Students who attended the 2019 STREAM summer camp helped building, constructing, and painting the dioramas in the atrium.

Everest’s atrium was opened during the 2019-2020 school year. While Everest students visit the chapel daily with their class to pray and to visit Christ in the Eucharist, the atrium is a place where students go with their religion teacher to learn a lesson and explore through hands-on activities. The atrium is a place of silence and prayer where students learn about God in a reflective environment.
