Face-to-Face with Jesus

Before Thanksgiving break, Everest's middle school students participated in Eucharistic Adoration. Each class had the opportunity to spend twenty minutes praying in before Christ in the Eucharist.

For some, Eucharistic Adoration may not be something they are familiar with but here at Everest we offer several times a year for our students. Eucharistic Adoration is a form of prayer that began centuries ago. The word adoration means “to pay honor or homage to someone or something.” The same Jesus, whom we receive in the Eucharist at Mass is who we worship in adoration. When the students come to adoration, the consecrated Host is taken out of the tabernacle where it is reserved and is placed in a Monstrance. A Monstrance is a sacred vessel where the consecrated Host is exposed for all to see.

Mr. Cross led the adoration for the 6^th and 7^th grade students, and Fr. Thomas led the 8^th grade students. It was a time of prayer, reflection, and a moment of silence. We know too well we are surrounded by a lot of daily noise and it was beautiful to see the students sitting there in silence just being face-to-face with Jesus. What a wonderful opportunity our students have here at Everest.
