Living Charity is In Our Hands

Preschool students and their mothers kicked off the annual mother and child retreats for Everest Academy students this year. Preschool moms joined their children in the chapel after drop-off for Mass with school chaplain, Fr. Thomas Salazar, LC. Father walked the students through Mass from putting on his priestly vestments, to what goes on during each moment of the Mass.

After Mass, some semi-restless preschoolers returned to their classroom for snack while the moms had the opportunity for fellowship and a reflection with formation coordinator Miss Rose. Together moms and students worked on an activity called, "living charity is in my hands." Students picked out a way that they could live charity at home. As students talked with their moms about how they can be kind and the list of options to write on their projects, one three-year-old was overhead asking her mom, "Does one of these say, 'don't pinch my baby sister?'"

Understanding the virtues and how to live them out in their daily lives is an important part of the spiritual formation offered at Everest Academy, beginning with the youngest students. Of course, all the students were excited to have time with their moms at school too.
