Everest's annual Founders' Day celebration took place on Friday, September 11, a few days earlier than its traditional alignment with the Feast of Our Lady Sorrows which falls during homecoming week this year. The entire school gathered together for a Mass in the morning. It is on Founders' that Everest's faculty and staff make their "Oath of Fidelity" pledging to fulfill Everest's mission of Catholic education with fidelity and obedience to the Magesterium of the Catholic Church. Founders' Day is not just an opportunity to recall the charism and history of Everest, it is also a day to celebrate the gift that is Everest. Everest's founding priest loved to reward "extra recess" whenever there was cause for celebration. So each year on Founders' Day, all students, from preschool through twelfth grade, enjoy extra recess!

This Founders' Day, Fr. Gomez sent a message to Everest students when he saw pictures and a video of students singing "Lord, I Need You" at Mass, "I had a big desire: Everest. With the desire came a thought from Jesus: 'Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him and he will act.' (Psalm 36). EA must be a means to experience Christ, form a good right conscience, and always be happy."
